The best leaders and the most successful movers and shakers all
recognize the importance of values and skills in their working lives.
This is the most basic consideration – and in many ways the most significant. Money can never be the sole consideration where work is concerned; no matter how well-paying the job, if it conflicts with what one holds dear, one can never be a success at it.
Success consists of blending and mixing values, skills, ethics, and habits with what one does at work. Put these together in the right mix and you will be well on the road to becoming successful; learn to love what you do for a living and you will truly be on top of the world.
Love your work and have passion for what you do, and you become a great achiever.
This book is full of tips, strategies, stories, and easy steps that teach you to love what you do at work. Having passion for what you do for a living, working because you love what you do – not just for the money you get – is sure to take you right to the top in whatever profession you call your own.
If one does not have the requisite habits needed for success, it is always possible to develop them.
The initial step is purely a mental one – it has to be done within one’s mind.
Think about the following points. You may have to struggle to accept that you may need to improve in those areas:
- You must learn to love what you do for a living.
- Because the most successful people are those who have good relationships with others, you must learn to get along well with those you are closest to – your spouse, for one, and/or your children. You may have to keep trying every time to become a better partner and/or parent.
- You need to give and take and enjoy doing it. Learn to share things with people.
- You may also have to learn to discipline yourself.
- If you are blaming anyone for whatever work-related failure you have been experiencing, learn that you have to stop, and the sooner the better. Accept responsibility for your own decisions and shrug off what other people may have done in the past that affected you negatively.
- Most importantly, reflect on this: success needs no explanation and failure has none.

Values, in their simplest and purest form, help us develop good habits, make the right choices, and stay away from temptation. When we tie our actions to our values, we increase our happiness and fulfilment.
The Values of Entrepreneurship are:
- Wisdom. An entrepreneur has to acquire wisdom and he has to acquire understanding. It is about knowing and doing right, which is often defined as common sense. It is the ability to meet each situation with good judgment and selectiveness.
- Integrity. Integrity is as simple as being what you say you are and doing what you say you would do. Walk your talk and be what you say you are – all the time and in every situation.
- Patience. It is better to be patient than powerful; it is better to have self-control than to get impatient and get derailed! Patience is developed through faithful waiting.
- Honesty and Trust. No value is as rich as honesty. Dishonesty builds a wall between two persons. Only the hammer of truth can break the wall down.
- Humility and Simplicity. Pride ends in destruction and humility and simplicity makes you an honourable and honest person – and these are good titles to aim to earn in your lifetime.
- Perseverance. Perseverance is courage stretched out. It is knowing when to quit and not to quit, when to try again and how many times and when to try something else or differently. It is an act and a belief of an individual entrepreneur.
- Love. Love is the soul's greatest need, and even our health is better when we know that we are loved. Love brings security and claims us. Love is basic to every other value.
